Here is a 35-minute Pilates posture mat workout with some of my favorite go-to exercises to help improve posture through strengthening the back line of the body (back, gluteus, hamstrings), while opening through the front muscles (pecs, front of the shoulders, hip flexors) that tend to thwart good posture efforts as they become tight. This sequence draws from contemporary Pilates and functional fitness.
OPTIONAL PROPS: You can do this sequence without props, but if you would like added resistance, feel free to use a light hand weight (1-3 pounds; if you don’t have one, a water bottle, wine bottle, or soup can is an alternate option), and either an ankle weight (2.5 lbs.) or a resistance band.
